Taking Hands with Orchard: Africa

Orchard Africa started in 1991 as a church ministry in Mafikeng, South Africa in response to vulnerable children rummaging through the city garbage dump for food. A few people from a local church decided to cook a pot of food and feed these children. From this compassionate response, the organization, Orchard Africa, was born.

We visited their Centre in Somerset West where they train pastors from the community, do leadership development, and teach the community about farming and so much more. We also visited the communities in Khayelitsha to see how this is being implemented.

Poverty & injustice creates vulnerable communities. Orchard Africa exists to equip the church to care for the vulnerable through relief, reconstruction, and development.

We are very excited to take hands with them and look forward to many projects in the future!
